Moroccan pop singer Douzi has been barred from entering U.S. territory—a ban he discovered this weekend while attempting to attend a press conference at Harvard University. In a video shared to Instagram on Saturday, Douzi explained that he was traveling to New York, where he planned to spend the night before heading to Boston for the event. But at the airport, he was stunned to learn that he was considered persona non grata on American soil. «At airport check-in, I was told I wasn't allowed to enter U.S. territory. I was shocked and asked why. I'm not politically affiliated with anyone—I just make music», he said. According to the singer, the reason given for the ban was a recent trip to Iraq. «They told me the ban was due to my visit to Iraq. I went there recently to receive an award», he explained. «Apparently, Iraq is on a list of countries that can be grounds for refusing entry to the United States», he added. Douzi added that after trying to resolve the issue, his team was informed that the only way to lift the ban would be to schedule an interview at the American consulate in his current country, where he would have to explain the reasons behind his visit to Iraq and answer any related questions. «But that can't happen before the conference I was supposed to attend on April 12 and 13», he said with disappointment. «I apologize to everyone who was expecting us at the event», he concluded.
