Manuel José Ossandón, President of the Chilean Senate, has called for a cooperative agenda to revive ties between Chile and Morocco. During a working visit from March 31 to April 4 as part of an Andean Parliament delegation to Morocco, he discussed this objective with Mohamed Ould Errachid, President of the Chamber of Councillors. In a press release from the Senate, the Chilean official presented the highest ceremonial honor of his country's parliament to Mohamed Ould Errachid and extended an invitation for him to visit Chile soon. He also expressed appreciation for the warm reception from Moroccan councillors, emphasizing the desire to reactivate joint efforts based on the cooperation agreement signed in 2017. In addition, Manuel José Ossandón held several working meetings aimed at promoting cooperation and strengthening bilateral trade ties. He notably met with the Chilean ambassador to Morocco to support these efforts. The Senate President was also received by Morocco's Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, with whom he discussed tariff policy and trade relations between the two nations. In Rabat, the President of the Andean Parliament, Gustavo Pacheco Villar, leading the accompanying delegation, also held talks with Minister Nasser Bourita. Following the meeting, he emphasized the strong relationship between the Andean Parliament and Morocco, mentioning that part of the working visit program included a trip to Laayoune to further explore socio-economic cooperation. Additionally, Gustavo Pacheco Villar announced that a meeting between the four regional parliaments of Latin America and the European Parliament (Eurolat) would take place in Lima, Peru, during the first week of June. «We have invited the Moroccan government and both Chambers to join us, not only by participating but by organizing the work together, as we are brothers», he said.
