On Sunday, March 30, 2025, in Tagounite, a commune in the Zagora Province, a military patrol conducting a border control mission was involved in a serious incident. The patrol was pursuing a four-wheel-drive vehicle loaded with hashish when it was deliberately rammed by the fleeing vehicle. According to the official Facebook page of the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces, the incident resulted in the deaths of Corporals Faisal Moujahid and Mohammed Hassnaoui, who succumbed to their injuries while being evacuated to the hospital. A third soldier remains under medical care. In response to this tragic event, the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces provided a military helicopter to transport the bodies of the fallen soldiers to Bzou in the Azilal province and Ain Kechour in Oued Zem, where they were laid to rest in solemn ceremonies attended by military and local officials. The funeral ceremonies were marked by a strong official and military presence, including local authorities, the Royal Gendarmerie, and auxiliary forces. Family members, friends, and colleagues gathered to pay their final respects, mourning their loss while honoring their sacrifice for the nation. The Royal Moroccan Armed Forces also extended condolences and support to the families of the fallen soldiers during this difficult time.
