Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco's national carrier, and China Southern Airlines have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance air connectivity between China and Africa, responding to the growing travel demand between the two regions. Under the agreement, the two airlines will expand their interline cooperation and establish a code-share partnership, improving connections between China, Asia, and Africa. The deal also includes plans to explore collaboration in passenger and cargo transport, aiming to provide smoother, higher-quality services, RAM announced Wednesday in a press release. Qu Guangji, Executive Vice President of China Southern Airlines, described the partnership as a significant step in alignment with the Belt and Road Initiative, emphasizing the shared goal of offering seamless travel experiences. RAM CEO Hamid Addou highlighted the collaboration as a key move to strengthen air links, boost tourism, and reinforce economic and trade relations between China and Africa. As a reminder, RAM resumed its direct Casablanca-Beijing route on January 20, 2025, now operating three weekly flights.
