Within less than 24 hours, the Spanish Civil Guard successfully located a four-year-old girl after her father reported her disappearance. The girl, who was living in Roquetas de Mar in the province of Almeria, was taken from Spain to Morocco by her mother. After losing contact with them, the father filed an official report on Wednesday, March 19. According to Spanish media, the Civil Guard in Almeria confirmed that the girl is in good health and is not in any danger. She was found at her maternal grandparents' home in Morocco. However, the exact means of transportation used to move the girl, or how she crossed the border despite being a minor, remains unclear. José Maria Martin, the Deputy Government Representative in Almeria, stated on Thursday morning that authorities are «continuing the necessary investigations» to uncover the circumstances of the case, stressing that the priority is the «welfare of the child», who has been confirmed to be in «good condition». The Spanish Civil Guard is continuing its investigation to understand the details of the incident and determine the legal actions that may follow. It has not yet been confirmed whether the mother had legal permission to take the child out of Spain, or who holds legal custody of the child.
