Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg has been signed by Egyptian club Zamalek on a permanent basis until June 2028, the club announced Tuesday in a post on X. The 24-year-old joined the Cairo-based club last summer from French outfit Saint-Etienne on a one-season loan deal with an option to make the move permanent for €1 million. He was especially praised for his outstanding performance during the CAF Super Cup triumph over arch-rivals Ahly in September 2024. Born in Casablanca, Mahmoud Bentayg began his career at AJ Sportive before joining Tihad AS in 2020, where he made his international debut in the Confederation Cup and helped the team reach the next round. After a failed transfer in 2021, he joined Raja CA in 2022, where he made key contributions before signing with Saint-Etienne in 2023.
