The Guardia Civil has sealed off an industrial warehouse in Ceuta, which housed a tunnel reportedly used for smuggling drugs between Morocco and Spain, EFE reported on Monday. Discovered last week by Spanish authorities after an extensive investigation, the tunnel is located within a decommissioned marble factory that has been closed for at least two years. The warehouse was sealed to prevent access to its interior, according to police sources. The tunnel itself is a narrow, wooden-propped passageway, approximately 50 meters long and 12 meters deep. Military sources told Spanish media that the tunnel was originally a sewage pipe connecting the Africa Star brewery to the old Tarajal Stream. Investigators believe one of these old pipes may have been repurposed and expanded over time to facilitate smuggling operations. Authorities suspect that drugs were transported through the tunnel, stored in the warehouse, and later loaded onto trucks heading for Spain. From there, the drugs were distributed throughout Spain and internationally, with the Port of Algeciras serving as the main exit point.
