Moroccan coach Issame Charai, the first assistant manager of Scottish club Rangers FC, has taken charge of training after the club announced on Sunday that it had parted ways with head coach Philippe Clement. In a statement on X, Rangers FC wrote: «Rangers Football Club can confirm it has tonight parted company with men's first-team manager, Philippe Clement». The club added that further updates would follow. As Rangers search for a new permanent manager, Charai, who was appointed as Clement's assistant just a month ago, is leading training sessions starting Monday, according to Rangers Review. Reports suggest that the club is assembling an interim coaching team to manage the squad until the end of the season. Meanwhile, assistant coaches Alex Rae and Stephan van der Heyden have also departed, leaving Charai as the most senior first-team coach currently at the club. While Charai is overseeing training, it remains unclear whether he will be officially appointed as interim manager. Charai joined Rangers following the departure of Clement's previous assistant, Andries Ulderink. He brings extensive coaching experience, having worked as an assistant at Belgian clubs KV Mechelen and OH Leuven, as well as Morocco's Under-23 national team. Additionally, he previously served as assistant head coach to Liam Rosenior at French Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.
