The Mauritanian authorities have introduced a significant change for Moroccan professional drivers involved in international road transport. According to an announcement from the Moroccan embassy in Nouakchott, these drivers can now obtain a multiple-entry visa valid for three months. The embassy stated, «Accepting the embassy's approaches, the competent Mauritanian authorities responded favorably to their request (Moroccan drivers), by now allowing them to obtain a visa valid for three months with multiple entries to Mauritanian territory.» Previously, Moroccan drivers were required to secure a visa for each entry into Mauritania, a process that hindered their operations. This new policy is expected to facilitate smoother transit for drivers traveling between Morocco and West Africa, including the Sahel region, via Mauritania. The embassy urges professional drivers and international transport company leaders operating on these routes to apply for the three-month multiple-entry visas through the dedicated electronic Mauritanian visa application platform, ensuring they select the «professional driver» function. The Moroccan embassy also expressed its appreciation to the Mauritanian authorities for their prompt and positive response to the issue.
