Spanish group Nebrija Institute for vocational trainng has announced the forthcoming opening of the Nebrija Institute in Casablanca, marking the city's first private Spanish educational institution. The official inauguration is slated for March. With this launch, Morocco joins a distinguished list of countries where Nebrija Institutes has established its international footprint, including China, Indonesia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Italy, Greece, and the United States. According to Spanish media reports, the Casablanca institute is part of the Nebrija Group's strategic international expansion, initiated in 2016 with the opening of the Nebrija-JESIE Institute in Nanjing, China. Situated on Ziraoui Street, the new institute aims to bolster the presence of the Spanish language in Morocco and increase the number of native speakers. It will also offer educational programs for students aspiring to pursue university studies in Spain. Starting in the 2025-2026 academic year, the institute plans to introduce preparatory courses for the Spanish university entrance exam. «The launch of this institute is a major milestone in the expansion of our international network and reflects our commitment to strengthening the presence of Spanish in Morocco as an increasingly important language in the education sector», stated Juan Padilla, General Manager of Nebrija Institutes Group. «Alongside academic education, we are witnessing a growing interest in vocational training, with an increasing number of young Moroccans choosing to pursue their professional studies in Spain. Strengthening their Spanish language skills opens up new horizons in the labor market». Pilar Alcover, director of the Nebrija Spanish Language Institute, highlighted that the new institute represents a significant addition to Morocco's educational landscape. «The opening of this center strengthens our presence on four continents, and it is not just an educational project, but a step to strengthen cultural, academic, and economic relations between Morocco and Spain», she remarked. «We aspire for this institute to be a platform to promote cultural and educational understanding between the two peoples, by supporting the efforts of other Spanish institutions in spreading the Spanish language and promoting access to Spanish university education», she added.
