The president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, is set to meet with Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares in Madrid this week to discuss the opening of commercial customs with Morocco. This pivotal meeting is anticipated to take place on Thursday, aligning with Vivas' visit to the Spanish capital for the International Tourism Fair. Government sources in Ceuta indicate that Vivas aims to gain clarity on several operational aspects concerning the customs. These include the work schedule, customs fees, types of goods permitted for import and export, documentation requirements, and the vehicles authorized for commercial activities. Vivas plans to express to Spanish officials his commitment to ensuring the customs operate effectively. This comes after two unsuccessful attempts to open the customs on March 8 and 16, when Moroccan authorities denied entry to a truck from Ceuta due to documentation discrepancies. The upcoming meeting follows an extraordinary session of the General Assembly in Ceuta today, where various political parties deliberated on their stances regarding the customs opening. The session aims to forge a consensus among political entities such as the People's Party, the Socialist Workers' Party, Vox, the Dignity and Citizenship Movement, and the «Ceuta Ya!» party.
