With the close of the Oran Diplomatic Forum, Algeria promptly resumed its traditional stance on the Sahara issue. This was evident in the statement made by the Algerian Foreign Minister following his talks with his Namibian counterpart in Algiers on Wednesday, December 4. After highlighting Algeria's support for Namibia's liberation movement (SWAPO), Ahmed Attaf emphasized that both countries «defend the legitimate rights of justice and freedom and just causes, particularly in Western Sahara and Palestine». It is worth noting that Windhoek recognizes the «SADR». In March 2019, Namibia co-hosted an African conference to advocate for the Polisario's positions. Together with Algeria and South Africa, Namibia forms the last remaining axis on the continent offering uncompromising support to the Front. Meanwhile, Algeria had to temporarily set aside its backing of the Front to ensure the success of the 11th edition of the Oran Diplomatic Forum, held on December 1 and 2. The event was marked by the participation of three African nations that recognize Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara: Liberia, Somalia, and Djibouti.
