From October 7 to 13, the Royal Moroccan Navy and the French Navy are conducting the Chebec naval exercise, an annual event that began in 1994. The thirtieth edition of these maneuvers has been bolstered by improved political and diplomatic relations between Rabat and Paris. Notably, a French nuclear attack submarine will participate for the first time, according to French media reports. Morocco is expected to commit the multi-mission frigate Mohammed VI, commissioned in 2014. The Franco-Moroccan flotilla, consisting of surface units, is scheduled to rendezvous in Casablanca before conducting joint patrols in the Alboran Sea in the Mediterranean. During the Chebec 2023 exercise, France deployed the frigate La Fayette, while the Royal Moroccan Navy mobilized the multifunction frigate Tarik Ben Ziad, delivered in September 2011.
