Passengers returning from Morocco to Manchester earlier in August are still waiting for their luggage after being informed that the aircraft that flew them to the UK had one of its luggage holds infested with cockroaches. According to The Independent, the flight in question was Royal Air Maroc flight AT818, which flew from Casablanca to Manchester on Thursday, August 15. One of the travelers on the flight told the newspaper that after arriving in Manchester, passengers couldn't retrieve their luggage even after waiting for 90 minutes. «Apparently, the aircraft hold was found to contain a cockroach infestation, and consequently, no staff members were allowed near it for health and safety reasons», Karen Gee told The Independent. Only one of the airplane's luggage holds was affected, meaning that some passengers were able to reclaim their bags, and the flight could still load luggage for travelers returning to Casablanca. The Boeing 737 then flew back to Royal Air Maroc's hub at Casablanca's Mohammed V International Airport, while Gee and the other passengers waiting for their baggage were told to go home. Once in Casablanca, the Manchester bags were offloaded, and the aircraft continued its normal service, making a flight to Abuja, Nigeria, the same night. However, the luggage was not loaded onto the next Royal Air Maroc flight to Manchester, which operated normally on Sunday, The Independent added.
