The Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs met, Tuesday, December 26 in Rabat, with the Senior Presidential Advisor on Middle East Affairs, Mohamed Ahmed Kisuule, who delivered a message to King Mohammed VI from the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni. The day before, the Foreign Minister received «Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, who came to present a copy of his credentials as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uganda to HM King Mohammed VI», stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X. This country, a member of the East African Economic Community, recognizes the so-called «SADR». For the record, Uganda was among the small group of States, led by Algeria and South Africa, which spoke at the African Union summit, organized at the end of January 2017 in Addis Ababa, to oppose the Kingdom's membership in the AU. But since then, things have changed. President Yoweri Museveni received, on December 6, 2022, at the presidential palace in Entebbe, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, carrying a written message from King Mohammed VI. Bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the means to develop them were discussed during the audience. In May, the Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, Ghita Mezzour, received on the sidelines of the GITEX Africa exhibition, the Ugandan Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Monica Musinero Masanza. Nasser Bourita's meetings with President Museveni's senior advisor and the Ugandan ambassador come a week after the talks, on December 21 in Rabat, with his Tanzanian counterpart, January Yusuf Makamba, another country that recognizes the self-proclaimed «SADR». The Ugandan Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, John Mulimba, met last week in Oran with his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf.
