After ten days of silence, the Spanish justice decided to summon Brahim Ghali, Spanish media reported. The investigating judge of the National Hearing in Madrid, Santiago Pedraz Gómez, issued a warrant to hear the Polisario leader on May 5 at 10:30 a.m., following a complaint filed by the dissident Sahrawi Fadel Breika who has Spanish citizenship. He had been kidnapped, arrested and tortured for months without a trial before his release on November 10, 2019. Breika currently lives in Spain. We learned that on the same day, the judge also requested the hearing of Sid Ahmed El Batal, a high security officer in the Tindouf camps. Bachir Mutsapha Sayed is also summoned, but will be heard on May 7. For the record, the judge of the National Hearing summoned Brahim Ghali in November 2016 following the complaint filed in 2008 by the Sahrawi Association for Human Rights, but he failed to show up. This move comes only days after Moroccan Foreign Affairs Minister Nasser Bourita argued that the victims of Brahim Ghali and the Polisario did not receive answers from the Spanish justice. It is worth mentioning that Brahim Ghali was admitted to a hospital in Spain under a fake identity.
