The national market supply with foodstuffs and basic necessities is characterized by an abundant and diversified supply, meeting the needs of citizens in the country, said on Tuesday Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit. Interior Minister chaired on Tuesday a meeting, attended by ministers of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy and of Energy, Mining and Environment as well as walis of regions and governors, the Interior Ministry said in a statement. This meeting is aimed at evaluating and monitoring the national market supply and prices of commodities and to direct interventions of services in charge of monitoring and consumer protection, in addition to strengthening the coordination mechanisms between agencies and bodies at central and local levels, according to the Ministry. The updated data produced by officials of ministerial sectors and public institutions in the various provinces and prefectures based on surveys and field research, showed that the current and expected state of supply in the coming weeks and months is characterized by an abundant and diversified supply that meets the needs of citizens throughout the country in terms of foodstuffs, the source noted. Prices of major commodities are mostly stable, with relative variations recorded in the prices of some products compared to the same period last year, such as a decline recorded in the price of vegetables, red meat and dried fruits, and an increase in the prices of cooking oils, white meat and eggs. Regarding control operations, Laftit ordered walis and governors to mobilize various services and authorities as well as regional and local committees and monitoring bodies in order to protect citizen's purchasing power, their safety and health, the statement added.
