Brahim Ghali was re-elected, Tuesday, as the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front. According to Algerian press agency, (APS) Brahim Ghali received 86.10% of the votes, as declared Tuesday morning by the movement's election committee chairperson, Brahim Mokhtar. The results of this vote were revealed after a minute's silence to honor Algeria's chief army Gaid Salah was observed. The vote took place during the Polisario's 15th congress, held in Tifariti, an oasis town located east of the sand wall. According to pro-Polisario platform Futuro Sahara, Ghali, who has been leading the Polisario since July 2016 after the movement's former leader Mohamed Abdelaziz passed away, was the only candidate bidding to head the Polisario Front.
