Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union Taïeb Baccouche has sent a letter to the leaders of five Maghreb countries, urging them to submit a joint-bid to host the 2030 World Cup. In a communiqué issued Thursday, the organization indicated that the Tunisian politician «sent letters to five heads of states in the Maghreb, calling them to work on a Maghrebian candidacy to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup». Baccouche stressed in his letter that these countries should «learn from the Moroccan experience, which was supported by all Maghreb nations (…) especially as FIFA has overlooked single bids». For the record, Tunisia and Algeria have already stated that they want to submit a joint bid with Morocco. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has not commented yet on that but announced instead that the Kingdom will bid to host the 2030 World Cup.
