Al Akhawayn University, an independent coeducational school located in Ifrane, has been finally accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), a United States' regional accreditation association providing educational accreditation for all levels of education, from pre-kindergarten to the doctoral level, said the university in a statement sent on Friday to Yabiladi. «AUI thus becomes the only non-American university in Africa to receive such recognition», indicates the same communiqué. In the same context, Al Akhawayn University hosted last March a team of eight evaluators from different US universities to review its program grasping eight of its qualifying high standards. «Al Akhawayn has reached today a high level of excellence. NEASC's accreditation is going to strengthen our position internationally and that of our students», said DR. Driss Ouaouicha, president of the University. On the other hand, Abdellatif Jouahri, Wali of Bank Al-Maghrib and Al Akhawayn University Chancellor stated that «this accreditation reflects Al Akhawayn University's unwavering commitment to governance, management and transparency. It also portrays the high quality of the institution's academic offers and infrastructure». For the record, NEASC was founded in 1885 and has been working to establish and maintain high standards for all levels of education longer than any other accreditation agency in the United States
