The French Development Agency (AFD) has just signed two new financing agreements for the benefit of the Moroccan educational sector worth 80.5 million Euros. With the presence of Mohamed Boussaïd, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mohamed Hassad, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Jean-François Girault, Ambassador of France to Morocco and Eric Baulard, director of AFD in Morocco, the agreements were signed on 22nd of June in Rabat, AFD said in a statement. In order to «support the Moroccan education strategy», these agreements provide a concessional loan of € 80 million and a grant of € 500,000. This funding will focus on three key areas to promote the quality of education in Morocco: ensuring equal access to quality education and equal opportunities for all pupils, promoting diversified paths towards Excellence and professional integration in response to Morocco's economic and social development needs, as well as modernizing the governance of the education system. Lastly, the € 500,000 grant will help to finance the training of teachers, particularly in French, on the basis of a partnership between the French and Moroccan Ministries of education.
