Clashes broke out between police and University of Fes students on Thursday and 17 protesters were arrested as a result. Security forces members and students faced off at the students' residences, with protesters using force and throwing rocks at authorities. Local authorities indicated that during the clash, members of the police were injured and were later taken to the hospital. The police intervened to disperse the students who tried to organize an illegal sit-in Thursday morning to discuss the decision of Fes' appeal court concerning the case of a group of students accused of murder, as explained by the Wilaya of Fes-Mekness. The students were taken under custody by the public prosecutor's office which will continue the investigation to identify the individuals involved in the case and bring them to trial.
