JYSK, the Danish retail chain known for its household goods such as mattresses, furniture, and interior décor, is set to make its debut in Morocco this April, with Casablanca as the inaugural location. Excitement is building, as the company has already attracted a flood of interest months ahead of its official launch. The company reported receiving an impressive 5,000 job applications for its Moroccan operations. «We expect to hire 50 new colleagues in Morocco by the end of the year», stated Mikael Nielsen, Executive Vice President Retail at JYSK. «It is great to see how many applications we have already received. We are proud of the interest in JYSK, especially in a market where we are not yet well known. The people in Morocco have given us a warm welcome – both the new colleagues and the business partners», Nielsen added with enthusiasm. JYSK plans to kick off its Moroccan venture with two stores and an accompanying webshop, with further expansion plans already in the pipeline. In terms of recruitment, the company has already hired 18 employees in Morocco, including five store managers, two logistics staff, and eleven administrative personnel for its Casablanca head office. «The training and onboarding of our new colleagues in the JYSK values is going well. These new recruits are currently training in Denmark and other JYSK countries», said Igor Raić, Country Director of JYSK Morocco. The recruitment process is set to continue throughout the year, as JYSK anticipates opening additional stores across Morocco.
