Israeli Transportation Minister Miri Regev is set to visit Morocco to attend the Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety, scheduled from February 18 to 20, 2025, in Marrakech. According to Israeli media reports, the Ministry of Transportation has requested state funding to cover the stay of Minister Miri Regev, her ministry's director general, Moshe Ben Zaken, and her personal assistant at a luxurious hotel during their mission in Morocco. The suite prices at the hotel range from 1,200 to 3,700 euros, which has ignited controversy within Israel. The minister's office, addressing the issue, stated: «The minister was invited at the expense of the Moroccan government, receiving a hospitality package that includes a hotel stay, similar to other participating ministers. However, due to security restrictions, the Moroccan government selected different hotels for the minister and the accompanying Israeli delegation.» They further clarified: «All additional costs related to security are managed by the Prime Minister's Office. Any other allegations mentioned in the report are false and untrue.»
