Moroccan professor Anasse Bari, a noted expert in artificial intelligence, has been honored by New York University (NYU) for his dedication to education and research. Bari has received the prestigious Martin Luther King Faculty Award for 2025. According to NYU's website, this accolade is awarded to professors who exemplify leadership and a commitment to justice and equity, values championed by the renowned American civil rights leader. At NYU, Bari leads the Predictive Analytics and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. Under his guidance, research teams have developed AI tools aimed at improving healthcare, addressing climate change, combating misinformation, and preparing for pandemics, as highlighted by the university's administration in their announcement. During a ceremony at NYU on Wednesday, Bari remarked that the award serves as a reminder of the significance of «serving our communities» while upholding noble values such as equity and justice. In a statement to MAP, Bari, who earned his PhD in computer science from George Washington University, expressed pride in receiving the award. He views it as an acknowledgment of the values he absorbed in his homeland, Morocco.
