Good news for Moroccan tourism is coming from Norway. The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) has announced a partnership with the airline Norwegian. This collaboration will allow, starting in May 2025, the launch of a direct air route between Tangier and Copenhagen. This development marks a first for Tangier, which will benefit from a direct connection with a strategic Scandinavian airport. This initiative plans for a weekly flight during the first season, thus connecting the Moroccan city to the Danish capital. Copenhagen, the main hub of Norwegian, plays a crucial role for the Nordic and Baltic markets. This partnership represents a major step in strengthening Moroccan tourism, particularly by attracting visitors from Northern Europe. In addition to the new Tangier-Copenhagen route, the agreement between ONMT and Norwegian includes the transition of certain routes from a seasonal schedule to a year-round schedule. Thus, the Marrakech-Oslo route will now be available all year round. Until now, Agadir and Marrakech were the main Moroccan destinations for Nordic tourists, thanks to direct flights from these markets. The launch of this new air link demonstrates the growing interest of Northern European markets in Morocco. This interest is materialized by the signing of several strategic agreements between ONMT and leading airlines in the region, such as Norwegian, SAS, Air Baltic, and Flyplay. With this initiative, the ONMT continues its air strategy as part of its action plan «Light in Action». This plan aims to expand Morocco's air connectivity with distant markets.
