The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, chaired the 13th meeting of the Interministerial Commission overseeing the reconstruction and rehabilitation program for areas affected by the Al Haouz earthquake on Monday, December 2, in Rabat. This meeting highlighted substantial progress in implementing the program, following the instructions of King Mohammed VI. During the session, Akhannouch commended the governmental efforts that restored normalcy in the affected provinces. He emphasized the continuation of emergency aid disbursement, with affected families receiving 2,500 dirhams per month, extended for five additional months. To date, this aid totals 2 billion dirhams. Local authorities have issued 57,072 reconstruction permits, and progress is evident, with 35,214 homes either rebuilt or undergoing rehabilitation—5,000 more since October. The Commission detailed the phased disbursement of reconstruction aid: - 57,786 families received the first installment of 20,000 dirhams. - 35,983 families received the second installment. - 25,754 families received the third installment. - 12,664 families received the fourth and final installment. - In total, over 2.7 billion dirhams have been distributed for reconstruction. For 4,016 homes in remote areas, specific solutions are in progress, while 750 homes across 65 douars require large-scale work or relocation. The High Atlas Development Agency has been tasked with leading the reconstruction program across various sectors, including agriculture, housing, education, health, culture, tourism, and crafts. The Commission approved an action plan to accelerate reconstruction while enhancing the affected regions.
