Ignoring the protests of Polisario supporters in Denmark and Europe, a Danish company has opened an office in the Sahara, specifically in Dakhla, located on El Argoub Avenue, deplores the NGO Western Sahara Resource Watch. Attracted by the projects launched by Morocco in the province, the Danish energy company GreenGo Energy has decided to take this step, choosing to locate its office in Morocco. International renewable energy companies are already well-established in the Sahara, such as GE Vernova, a subsidiary of the American giant General Electric, and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy. The Polisario has denounced the strong participation of international companies in the realization of green energy projects in the Sahara. By 2027, Morocco aims to double its electricity production from green energies in the southern provinces to meet the growing demand, particularly in anticipation of the 2030 World Cup. The Moroccan government will mobilize 21 billion dirhams (2.1 billion dollars) in new wind and solar capacities reaching 1.4 gigawatts, a source at the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development told the Bloomberg agency. Denmark indeed considers the autonomy plan for the Sahara, proposed by Morocco in 2007, as «a serious and credible contribution to the ongoing UN process and as a good basis for an agreed solution between the parties». This announcement was made in a joint communiqué, published following a meeting held in September in New York, between the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, and his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.
