The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, through its central crisis unit and the Moroccan consular services in flood-affected Spanish regions, is mobilized to assist Moroccan nationals impacted by this natural disaster in the country's southeast. To this end, crisis units have been established at the Kingdom's Consulates General in Valencia, Madrid, and Seville to monitor all cases requiring assistance. In coordination with the Ministry's central crisis unit, consular services in the affected regions—where the floods have claimed at least 158 lives—are working diligently to provide aid and identify any Moroccan victims. The central crisis unit has set up numbers for inquiries regarding missing persons or loss of contact with family members. The toll-free numbers for the consular call center are (0800009948/49/50). The Consulate General of Morocco in Valencia, the region hardest hit by the floods, has also established emergency numbers (+00 34 631 935 818 / +00 34 631 711 873) to allow Moroccan nationals to check on the condition of their loved ones. The Kingdom's Consulates General remain in contact with Spanish central and local authorities, as well as Moroccan associations, to gather information on the situation of Moroccans in these regions. To date, only one Moroccan fatality has been reported.
