Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Special Representative of the President of Russia for the Middle East Mikhail Bogdanov, received Morocco's Ambassador to Moscow, Lotfi Bouchaara, on Friday. The talks focused on «topical issues related to the progressive development of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Morocco. These included maintaining an active political dialogue on resolving ongoing crisis situations in the Middle East and North Africa, based on the key principles of international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions», reads a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry. For the record, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov received the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, in Moscow on Monday March 11. The two parties discussed «the status and prospects of the settlement process». Russia is attempting to relaunch the political process in the Sahara, which has been stalled since March 2019, «taking into account de Mistura's latest contacts with all the relevant players», the Lavrov department had said.
