Police at the Tangier-Med Port collaborated with Customs services on Sunday to thwart an international drug trafficking attempt involving a staggering 3.255 tons of chira (cannabis resin). A statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) details how vigilant border control and thorough searches led to the seizure of the hidden shipment. The chira was skillfully concealed within a fish-laden trailer of an international goods truck on the verge of departing for a European port. The 32-year-old Moroccan truck driver was apprehended alongside the contraband. He remains in custody while the Tangier-Med port judicial police brigade, under the supervision of the relevant prosecutor's office, conducts a comprehensive investigation. This probe aims to uncover the criminal activity's national and international connections and apprehend any accomplices. The DGSN statement emphasizes that this successful operation reinforces their ongoing efforts to dismantle and disrupt international drug trafficking networks.
