President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, said on Wednesday in Madrid that relations between Morocco and Spain have «reached a high level of solidity and trust», stressing that these ties «will always be a priority» for Madrid. «I believe we must continue to consolidate» these relations, added Sanchez at the opening of the 8th Conference of Spanish ambassadors accredited abroad. He recalled the Moroccan-Spanish High-Level Meeting held in Rabat last year, which «opened a new chapter in bilateral relations», with «the largest ministerial participation and the largest number of agreements signed in the history of relations between the two countries». The president of the Spanish Government also stressed the importance of strengthening dialogue between countries on both shores of the Mediterranean to combat the root causes of irregular migration and raise awareness of the risks and dangers of this scourge. Stability and security in the Sahel region must remain a priority for Spain and Europe, he added.
