Polisario leader Brahim Ghali has agreed to appear, on June 1, before the Spanish justice via video conference, El Pais reported citing sources close to the Saharawi movement. On Tuesday, the investigating judge of court n ° 5 at the National Hearing, Santiago Pedraz, announced that Brahim Ghali can attend the hearing via video conference if his state of health prevents him from going to Madrid. «Ghali's appearance, whether face-to-face or via video conference, is good news for the victims of the Polisario», Messoud Ramadan, the president of the Sahrawi Association for the Defense of Human Rights (ASADEH) said. However, he was skeptical about what would happen after the hearing : «Judge Pedraz did not proceed, as we requested, to seize Brahim Ghali's passport and prevent him from leaving the Spanish territory», he argued. It is clear that on this file, the Spanish justice operates with extreme caution, trying to spare the superior interests of the Spanish state between Morocco and Algeria.
