Morocco has «a sufficient stock to meet the national need for gas cylinder with an autonomy of 40 days», assured, Friday in Mohammedia, Minister of Energy, Mining and Environment Aziz Rebbah. «This stock is replenished monthly by the reception of the LPG carriers through the various gas terminals and mainly the port of Mohammedia», said Rebbah during a visit to the Moroccan Storage Company (SOMAS). The minister underlined that, in spite of the exceptional demand these past days, «the market remains regularly supplied thanks to the new purchases confirmed by the operators, which allows not only to maintain the current stocks, but also to improve the levels for the next 3 months». As a strategic player in the country's supply chain of gas cylinder, SOMAS has more than 72% of national storage capacity. Reception, storage and delivery activities are taking place in normal conditions for the company as well as all the gas operators, sources further assured during this visit. In accordance with the national strategy to combat the pandemic of the new coronavirus (Covid-19), all preventive hygiene, health and safety measures have been implemented in the sector, coupled with the timely initiation of the Business Continuity Plan (PCA) to ensure supply for the national market.
