The Algerian Foreign Minister refuted, Monday, news reported on «the alleged warning issued by the Algerian government» to the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), quoting the ministry's spokesperson Abdelaziz Benali-Chérif. The latter said that reports on the alleged «warning» are «false and unfounded», adding that they were used to «harm Algeria, its people and its institutions». Benali-Chérif stressed that Sahrawis in the «Tindouf camps are on the Algerian territory and that their security is entrusted to the National Army». On Monday, Algerian newspaper TSA claimed that the Algerian government has warned MINURSO members of kidnapping risks in the Tindouf camps, endorsing the recent recommendations of Spain. The latter has advised its nationals against traveling to the camps.
