After El Salvador announced that it withdrew recognition of the «Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic», the Polisario Front's «Minister Delegate in charge of Latin America and the Caribbean» Mansour Omar said that the separatist movement will maintain ties with El Salvador. Angered by El Salvador's decision, Omar said that «despite the position announced by Nayib Bukele, relations between El Salvador will be maintained and strengthened». He added that «this position is just temporarily». Moreover, Omar accused Morocco of being «a bad friend that bases its policy on deception». Meanwhile, pro-Polisario news outlet Futuro Sahara wrote that the decision of El Salvador was influenced by «economic temptations». After he announced that his country is «reassessing» its diplomatic relations with the Polisario Front and evaluating its position on the Western Sahara conflict, Bukele said, Saturday, on his Twitter account that San Salvador has withdrawn its recognition of «SADR». On Friday, June 7, the Salvadorian Foreign Ministry said that it is «developing a new policy that aims at promoting the interests of the country internationally», including ties with «SADR». For the record, El Salvador recognized «SADR» in 1989.
