Policemen arrested on Saturday in Tangier an Indian national, who lives illegally in Morocco, suspected of mediating illegal immigration and human-trafficking operations. The suspect was arrested in a flat that he was renting and using to shelter 16 would-be illegal immigrants from Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan, national police said in a statement. Investigations have revealed that the suspect has received from these migrants cash amounts ranging from $1,000 and $7,000 dollars to reach Europe, the source added. The suspect has been remanded in custody, while investigations are underway to determine all the possible ramifications of this criminal network.
