While a Moroccan delegation is currently attending the second Geneva round-table on Western Sahara in Switzerland, alongside AlgeriaMauritania and the Polisario, the movement mobilized its separatists in the Sahara. On Wednesday evening, women tried to organize several sit-ins in Laayoune, reports pro-Polisario broadcaster Radio Maizirat. The latter said that the authorities dispersed protesters, citing the Sahrawi Association of Victims of Grave Violations of Human Rights (ASVDH). Contacted by Yabiladi, a local source in Laayoune explained that the two sit-ins «did not last for too long». «Aminatou Haidar took part in the sit-in, and the Polisario tried, on the eve of the Geneva round-table, to provoke confrontations and to accuse Morocco of repressing protesters», the same source told Yabiladi. For the record, the UN personal envoy for Western Sahara, Horst Kohler, is expected to chair a second round-table on the territorial conflict. Delegations from Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania and the Polisario were summoned to take part in the two-day meeting. In December, 2018, a first round-table under the auspices of the United Nations was organized in Geneva.
