The political settlement of Libya's long-standing crisis depends on ensuring adequate security conditions, said, Tuesday in Cairo, minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita. Speaking at a press briefing after talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, Bourita stressed that the security aspect is of paramount importance for the success of any political solution to the Libyan crisis, calling for greater attention to be paid to this issue. He added that the Skhirat agreement provides for a series of security measures that have not been implemented, noting that it is time to apply them as a prelude to the political settlement. In addition, Bourita said that the current situation in the Arab region requires more coordination between Morocco and Egypt during the upcoming Arab and African key events, at a time when Cairo is holding the presidency of the African Union this year, expressing the Kingdom's readiness to support Egypt in this mission. Furthermore, Bourita pointed out that Morocco supports all the measures taken by Egypt to guarantee its security, while praising in this regard the efforts made by Cairo to promote a climate of calm in the country, as well as the important reforms launched to strengthen Egypt's economic role at the regional and international levels.
