17 days after King Mohammed VI urged Algeria to join the creation of «a political mechanism for dialogue and consultation», the country finally reacted to the royal initiative. On Thursday, Algeria said that it officially contacted the General Secretary of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) to convene «within shortened deadlines» a meeting of the Union's Foreign Affairs Ministers Council. In a communiqué, published on the country's news agency, Algeria indicated that the initiative is «in line with the country's will to revive the Arab Maghreb Union». For the record, in his Green March speech, delivered on the 6th November, King Mohammed VI called on Algeria to join the creation of «a political mechanism for dialogue and consultation». The Sovereign stressed that Morocco is open to all initiatives «Algeria may want to offer in this regard».
