Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat arrived Tuesday night in Tindouf. Once in Algeria, he headed to the Rabouni camp where he met the Polisario's «Foreign Minister» Mohamed Salem Ould Salek. The Chadian diplomat is expected to hold talks with the Front's leader Brahim Ghali. Faki's trip to the Polisario has been announced several months ago. His visit comes as he will present, on July the 1st and 2nd at the African Union summit in Mauritania, a report on the proposals suggested by the continental organization to reach a settlement for the Western Sahara conflict. For the record, Moussa Faki has been to Rabat for a two-day visit on June the 5th and 6th to discuss the topic with Moroccan officials. In March he visited Algeria for the same purpose. The Chairperson had indeed been mandated by the Conference of Heads of States to draft a «detailed report» on the implementation of Resolution 653, adopted at the summit held on the 3rd and 4th of July 2017 in the Ethiopian capital. Faki is meeting Brahim Ghali in the Rabouni camp and not in Bir Lahlou.
