A German personnel service provider is turning to Morocco to help solve the critical truck driver shortage affecting Germany's road freight transport sector. Mainz-based Capa has expanded its recruitment efforts beyond the European Union to include qualified workers from Morocco. According to transport-online, Capa's Managing Director Bernd Albrecht explains that «the recruitment potential within the EU is coming to an end», with countries like Spain and Portugal now needing their own drivers. The expected return of Ukrainian refugees after the war could further strain the driver market in Germany and Poland. The company has developed a comprehensive training program for Moroccan drivers, handling everything from candidate selection to qualification. The training includes obtaining German driving licenses, as the Moroccan licenses are not valid in Germany. The process takes approximately 12-16 weeks, with a total planning period of 26-36 weeks from contract signing to deployment. Upon completion, graduates receive a German driving license for classes B and C (with optional CE), a first aid certification, and a driver card for the digital tachograph. A large transport company from southern Germany is reportedly among Capa's first customers to recruit Moroccan drivers through this program.
