On Saturday, police at Tangier Med Port arrested a Swedish national of South American origin, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Swedish judicial authorities for his alleged involvement in international drug trafficking. The 40-year-old was apprehended while attempting to leave Moroccan territory aboard a ferry bound for a Spanish port, according to a security source. A check in the Interpol database revealed that he was listed under a «red notice» issued by the Swedish judiciary. The suspect is believed to have been involved in trafficking a shipment of cocaine seized in Sweden in 2023, the same source stated. He has been placed in custody pending extradition proceedings. Swedish authorities have been notified of his arrest and must now submit the necessary documentation for further legal action. This arrest is part of ongoing international security cooperation and Moroccan law enforcement's efforts to apprehend individuals wanted for cross-border crimes.
