The Moroccan women's national football team has moved up one spot in the latest FIFA world rankings, released on Thursday, now occupying 60th place. This advancement allows the Atlas Lionesses to retain their third position in Africa, behind Nigeria (36th) and South Africa (54th), which has dropped three spots. Morocco's progress is attributed to their two friendly match victories against Ghana and Haiti in February, earning an additional 1.7 points. At the top of the global rankings, the United States remains in first place despite their defeat in the SheBelieves Cup final against Japan (5th, +3). Spain (2nd), Germany (3rd), and England (4th) hold their positions, while Sweden (6th, -1), Canada (7th, -1), and Brazil (8th, -1) each drop one spot. Further down the rankings, several nations have made notable progress, particularly Tanzania (138th, +7) and Kenya (142nd, +7), which mark the best advancements among African teams. This first edition of the FIFA rankings in 2025 also sets a record, listing 196 teams, including Djibouti (195th), which makes its debut.
