Brahim Ghali, leader of the Polisario Front, was attacked outside the Polisario General Secretariat. The assailant, identified as a Saharawi shopkeeper from the Oulad Tidranine tribe, represents a marginalized segment of the camps' population, overshadowed by the Rguibates, who have dominated the Front's leadership for decades. The shopkeeper confronted Ghali directly, protesting the seizure of his trucks. Frustrated by the persistent obstacles to his business, he resorted to throwing stones at Ghali. Security forces accompanying the Polisario leader quickly intervened, apprehending the trader. This incident highlights the ongoing struggles faced by traders from the Oulad Tidranine tribe, who frequently fall victim to seizures and even thefts of their cargoes by armed Polisario elements. A notable case occurred last June. Historically, the Oulad Tidranine, alongside the Oulad Dlim, played a significant role in the 1988 revolt. Such attacks on Polisario officials have become increasingly common in the Tindouf camps. Just two weeks ago, the vehicle of the «Minister of the Interior» was damaged by stones thrown by women from the Laaroussiyyine tribe, who were demanding the release of a relative.
