The first edition of the Festival «Arouah Ghiwania», inaugurated last Sunday in El Jadida, concluded on Saturday night in Casablanca with a memorable musical evening. The orchestra, led by Rachid Regragui, performed classics from legendary groups like Nass El Ghiwane, Lamchaheb, and Jil Jilala. This traveling festival, which made stops in El Jadida, Aïn Harrouda, and Casablanca, is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication in partnership with the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council. Hafida Khouyi, regional director of culture, emphasized the importance of this event, designed to highlight the musical heritage of popular Moroccan groups. She recalled that this event is part of the Regional Development Plan (2022-2027) and aims to diversify and enrich the cultural offerings in the region. During the closing evening, Omar Sayed, co-founder of Nass El Ghiwane, expressed his pride in this tribute to this unique musical genre. He also praised the young artists who perpetuate this artistic heritage, deeply rooted in Moroccan culture. Throughout the week, the festival alternated between concerts and celebrations, highlighting the influence of Ghiwania music on Moroccan identity and its adaptation to contemporary trends. In El Jadida, the opening evening left a mark with vibrant performances by groups such as «Mesnawa» and «Derhem», the gnaoui master Baqbou, and the artist Nabil Khalidi.
