Hassan Akesbi, a legendary Moroccan footballer, passed away on Saturday after a long illness. He was 89 years old. Born in Tangier in 1935, Akesbi began his career with Sevillana Tangiers before joining FUS Rabat. He later moved to France, where he played for Nîmes Olympique, scoring 119 goals in 204 games, making him the club's all-time top scorer. Akesbi also had successful stints with Stade de Reims, where he was the second-highest scorer in the French league in 1961-1962 and the third-highest scorer in 1962-1963. He also played for Monaco and returned to FUS Rabat to end his playing career. After retiring as a player, Akesbi coached several Moroccan clubs, including FUS Rabat, Hassania Agadir, and Ittihad Zemmouri Khemisset. Akesbi is considered one of Morocco's greatest footballers. He represented the national team from 1960 to 1970 and won the Mohammed V Cup in 1962 and the Throne Cup in 1967. He will be remembered as a true legend of Moroccan football.
