French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, will pay a state visit to Morocco at the invitation of King Mohammed VI, as announced by the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol, and Chancellery on Monday. The visit will take place from Monday, October 28 to Wednesday, October 30, 2024. The Moroccan government emphasized the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, rooted in a deep partnership, and expressed the shared commitment of both leaders to further strengthen these ties in various areas, the Ministry added. This visit follows an invitation from King Mohammed VI, extended to President Macron in September. This visit comes after France's recent shift in its stance on the Sahara, now considering Morocco's autonomy plan as the only viable solution to the conflict. Macron's visit also aims to ease lingering diplomatic tensions, including those related to visa restrictions, espionage allegations, and the aftermath of France's engagement with Algeria.
