Since Wednesday, August 14, Abuja has been hosting a conference on the End of Decolonization in Africa». A Polisario delegation, led by its self-proclaimed representative in Switzerland, Oubi Bachir, is participating in the event. The organizers are the same political and associative figures who previously led campaigns against Morocco's membership in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in 2017 and 2018, including lawyer Femi Falana. The conference follows a working visit to Dakhla in early August by a Nigerian government delegation headed by Olufemi Oloruntola, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Transport, Shipping, and the Blue Economy. The purpose of the visit was «to learn about Moroccan experience in the fields of maritime fishing and ports», as stated by the Nigerian official to MAP. Nigeria has recognized the SADR since 1984.
