Houcine Ammouta has been named new coach of UAE side Al Jazira. He will take charge of the club on a contract that runs until 2026. Ammouta played in the UAE Pro League (formerly known as the UAE soccer league) as a player for Sharjah in the 2002-2003 season, before embarking on a successful spell in Qatar with Al Sadd as both player and coach. Before joining Al Jazira, Ammouta made rose to fame as coach of the Jordanian national football team, leading the «Nashama» (The Falcons) to their first-ever AFC Asian Cup final in Qatar. He also qualified the Jordanian team for the final stages of the next AFC Asian Cup (AFC 2027) in Saudi Arabia, as well as for the third and final round of Asian qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The Moroccan coach will be on the Al Jazira bench for the club's upcoming training camp in Spain this July.
